After a long wait, Bollywood is finally serving us with a much-awaited biography of Subhash Chandra Bose. The national award-winning director Srijit Mukherji is opening the death file of Netaji via his upcoming film Gumnami. The film’s trailer was released on Sunday and has managed to grab the attention.
Bollywood has served us with many biographies, but Gumnami is something that we have been waiting for, to unfold the mystery behind the death of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The trailer begins with a courtroom scene where we see Mukharjee Commission declaring that Netaji didn’t die in the airplane crash in Taiwan. Instead, he lived as an ascetic for many years in Uttar Pradesh. He was famously known as Gumnami Baba. Well, the trailers give us a glimpse of many aspects of the life of Netaji, but at the same time, it leaves us craving for more.
The trailer shows two different times, one immediately after the death of Netaji and the other which shows the hearing of the commission. Coming to the character, then the lead role is essayed by Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee. And looking at the trailer, we can say that he has done an exceptionally well job. He looks determined, but at the same time, the confusion grips his charter, which has been essayed beautifully in the trailer.
The film is slated to release on October 2nd, 2019. It is surely going to stir up some political conversation because the death of Netaji is still a mystery. Some believe that he didn’t die and was alive. While there are others, who believe that he died in the plane crash. We all know that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose has formed the first army in India that also played a crucial role in our fight for freedom. So, it would be great to see how the director unfolds the mystery on 70 mm screen.
