Star Cast: Anupam Kher, Akshay Khanna

Movie Review: After much controversy and propaganda, political drama, “ The Accidental Prime Minister” released today. The film is based on the book written by Sanjay Baru who was media advisor of Manmohan Singh.

In the film we see Akshay Khanna essaying the role of Sanjay Baru and Anupam Kher is seen as Manmohan Singh. The film garnered the attention of many because of the Lok Sabha election that will take place this year. Some believe that the film has been released with a motive to derogate the Congress regime of governance. Leaving all this aside, we expected some good drama on the screen that will show what happened when Manmohan Singh became the Prime Minister of the nation. Well, all I can say is that the film fails to leave an impression. It appears Words of Wisdom- you can only love someone when you love yourself. The film fails to showcase the real stuff, all you could figure out is that the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was just a puppet whose strings were controlled by the Nehru-Gandhi Family.

Coming to the acting part, then we expected more from Anupam Kher. He fails to impress us as Manmohan Singh. However, Akshay Khanna does a decent job in his role as Sanjay Baru. Overall, it was an over-hyped film that garnered attention more for its name than the story.

If you compare the two films, The Accidental Prime Minister and Uri: the Surgical Strike, then my take would be Uri. But if you are a die-hard BJP fan and want to see how Manmohan Singh got trapped in a political scenario of becoming the Prime Minister then you can try The Accidental Prime Minister.
