Director: Abhishek Kapoor
Star Cast: Sushant Singh Rajput, Sara Ali Khan, Pooja Gor, Nitesh Bhardwaj
Movie Review: Abhishek Kapoor’s film Kedarnath set in the picturesque Kedarnath where the love story of Mansoor (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Mandakini (Sara Ali Khan) blooms. Sushant Singh Rajput essays the role of a porter who carried pilgrim on his back to the temple and Sara Ali Khan portrays the role of fearless, plucky priest’s daughter.
The story of the film is the repetition of the typical Bollywood love track where the boy loves the girl but the family doesn’t approve it. Abhishek Kapoor has added the religious twist to this story, here the boy is Muslim and the girl is Hindu. The story takes the turn when the flood hit the town and everything gets destroyed. Despite all this, Kedarnath is not able to leave the audience impressed. Sara Ali Khan does justice to her role but she could have been much better. Sushant Singh Rajput showcases his acting valor and is impressive in his role.
As far as the content of the film is concerned, there is nothing new on the plate. Moreover, the natural catastrophe appears as the afterthought to add some adventure to the mundane love story. Apart from Sushant Singh Rajput, you must watch the film for Sara Ali Khan. She is by far the best debutante we have seen in recent years. She looks convincing and at some point, she steals the limelight from Sushant Singh Rajput.
Despite all elements of a love story, a girl, a poor boy, families tearing their love apart and cherry on the cake, natural disaster; but all this couldn’t help Kedarnath to withstand the expectations of the audiences. Well, you can watch Kedarnath for Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput.
